Matthew 19:29 And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit Eternal Life.
The final Verse of Scripture in the Second Chapter of the Book of Acts paints a picture of what was happening in Jerusalem at the time. It also helps us see God’s Pattern for His Church. Praising God, and having favor with all the people, and the Lord added to the Church daily such as should be saved. (Acts 2:47)
The believers were joined together by their faith in the Finished Work of Jesus on the Cross of Calvary. This, and this alone was the basis for their lives. Although they still lived in the same general area, many had been evicted from their homes, lost their jobs, and rejected by their families because of their stand for Christ. All of them had been excommunicated from the Synagogue and every aspect of Jewish society. The Jews hated Jesus so they hated His followers as well.
Hated, rejected, and persecuted, and yet they lived their lives praising God in Joy and Peace. They were in total agreement, unified, and in one accord. They stuck together and helped each other. Life was hard for them but they remained faithful to the Cause of Christ and God Blessed them daily for their faithfulness.
They remembered what Jesus had told them just prior to His Crucifixion. He said, But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things tha t I said to you. (John 14:26)
The Holy Spirit taught them many things and caused them to remember the Words of Jesus. They remembered Him saying, And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My Name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit Eternal Life. (Matthew 19:29)
Jesus was speaking of them and they knew it! They believed they would inherit Eternal Life because they surrendered everything for His Name’s sake. These Words of Jesus still stand today. Are you willing to walk away from your family, home, land, and job for the Cause of Christ? It’s not easy. God never said it would be easy. However, He did say, I will never leave you nor forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5) What are you willing to surrender today to inherit Eternal Life?
God wants to……….turn the tide……….in your life.
I surrender all, Doreen
