1 Chronicles 12:39-40 And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them. Moreover they who were near them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali brought bread on donkeys, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.
The Army of David had assembled! They were a great multitude from many tribes united together in one accord with one purpose. Together, they enjoyed fellowship as one body of believers in their king.
This is what Jesus prayed for in the 17th Chapter of John when He said, I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
It was Jesus’ prayer that the Church be united as one body; the Body of Christ. Just as the Army of David came together to raise him up victorious, let the Body of Christ come together as the Army of the Cross and lift up the mighty Name of King Jesus.
Fellowship is an extremely important part of being unified. The Army of David enjoyed fellowship together for three days. Their neighbors all brought food and drink. It was a HUGE pot-luck supper for over 350,000 soldiers and all the others! Everyone brought something to the table for all to enjoy.
In Hebrews 10:24-25, we read of the importance of coming together in fellowship, worship, study, and prayer. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
Most churches come together on a regular basis in worship, study, prayer and fellowship, but how many are willing to come together with OTHER churches of other denominations as one united Body of Christ? I’m sorry to say, the answer to that question is, very few.
We MUST come together as one Body and exhort one another especially in these Last Days. exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
The Day of the Lord’s return is quickly approaching, and the Church is fragmented into sects and denominations that will have nothing to do with each other. This is direct disobedience to the Word of God. Nowhere in the Word of God does it instruct the Church to separate into groups and alienate each other! And yet, this is what the Body of Christ has done and is doing.
What I have just described is a very big part of the vision for Betts Ministries. We serve the entire Body of Christ no matter their denomination. We come together as the One Church Jesus prayed for us to be and together we stand on the Common Ground of the Gospel of Christ and exhort one another as the Word of God instructs us to.
I absolutely believe this is WHY we have such powerful moving of the Holy Spirit here on this land. Obedience to the Word of God will never fail us or disappoint us. God is good and faithful to His Promises and we give Him all the praise and glory for that! At Betts Ministries we will continue to take every opportunity to draw the Body of Christ together as One, in obedience to God’s Word.
Obedience to the Word of God will……..turn the tide
Praying for unity of the Church, Doreen
