Habakkuk 3:9-11 Your Bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the Tribes, even Your Word. Selah. You did cleave the Earth with rivers. The mountains saw You, and then trembled: the overflowing of the water passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high. The sun and moon stood still in their habitation: at the light of Your Arrows they went, and at the shining of Your glittering Spear.
The Power of God is unmistakably awesome! All of God's Creation bows to Him and is obedient. When Almighty God speaks, everything and everyone hears, listens, and obeys! What an awesome God we serve!
When God brings judgment, His Word will be fully exposed; nothing will be hidden. Everything will be in accordance with the Word of God, and the people will have a complete understanding. God caused water to flow out of a rock, which made rivers. The mountains trembled as the Living Water passed by. The oceans spoke His Name and lifted its hands to Heaven. The sun and the moon actually stood still in their places.
This part of his Vision caused Habakkuk to recall the miracle of God given to Joshua as he faced the enemy at Gibeon. We read in the 10th Chapter of Joshua this account. And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goes up to Beth-horon, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah. And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Beth-horon, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the Children of Israel slew with the sword. (Joshua 10:10-11)
God's people fought the enemy, but He Himself slew more with hailstones than were killed by the swords of His people. When we come into obedience with God's Word, He will enter the battle. He is far more able to slay the enemy than we are. The Power of God is beyond measure.
As we read on, we see where God actually caused the sun and the moon to stand still. No man can do this! Then spoke Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the Children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, "Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the alley of Ajalon." And the Sun stood still, and the Moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the Book of Jasher? (Joshua 10:12-13)
Many do not believe this is possible or actually happened, but this event, known as the DOUBLE-DAY, is confirmed and recorded in the State documents of Egypt, China, and Mexico! The Chinese philosopher, Huai-nan-Tza, recorded this day in history and tells of the hill of Gibeon and the moment when Joshua spoke. He recorded the fact that the sun was setting in front of Joshua in the west as he spoke. It was evening time, and yet the daylight continued until victory was won! God stopped the sun from setting and the moon from rising.
And the Word of the Lord says, And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel. (Joshua 10:14)
My friends, we serve an AWESOME GOD who is able to bring down the fiercest of enemies. He is a miracle-working God! From start to finish, the Bible is an account of one Miracle after another. He is the same, yesterday, today, and forever. He is still performing miracles today!
We, the people of God, are face-to-face with the enemy at this time in history. This is why we study history. Without the study of history, no one would know what God has done or has the Power to do again. The Bible is a history book. Every word is true. What God did once, He can easily do again.
As we give God glory for what He is able to do and trust Him to once again protect His people, we will see POWERFUL moves of God. We live in a very exciting time in history. The Prophetic Vision given to Habakkuk caused him to recall his history lessons. Have you studied your history lessons?
I encourage you to study the Word of God. Learn the History of God's world. He is able to defeat the enemy we face. We don't know how or when, but we do know He is able. Once again, He is waiting for His people to turn back to Him.
Then He will, in His Own Way............turn the tide
