Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Some things are worth waiting for, and the Lord is one of those things! We live in a fast society. We eat fast food, check out at the express line at the store, do everything on high-speed internet, etc. We know what we want, and we want it now! But the Bible says, Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!
Another favorite Passage on this subject is Isaiah 40:31 But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
I am reminded of a time when we had a group of ladies at The Treehouse for a Christmas Gathering. They all arrived on time except one. She was late. As we waited, we had time to visit, and at one point the conversation turned to the subject of being punctual; on time. Those who were there expressed their need to be on time to events, and we shared stories of those in our lives who seemed to be always late.
Finally, the last member of their group showed up with gifts for everyone in hand. The gifts made her late arrival a little more palatable, and they were finally able to sit down for their meal!
After they finished eating, they moved to the living area around the fire to fellowship and have their gift exchange. The lady who arrived late asked to go first. She had brought a special gift for every other member of the group. Addressing one lady at a time, she read a beautiful Word of Prophecy or Encouragement the Lord had given her for that particular person. After reading the Word, she presented each one with a special, hand-selected gift that accompanied the Word of the Lord.
She had spent much time praying for each of her friends. She asked God for a Word for each of them, and the Lord granted her request. Each one was in the form of a beautiful poem, which she took the time to print out on beautiful paper so the recipient could frame it. It was a Word from the Lord specifically for them and the gift was a remembrance of that day and the Word of the Prophet of God over them.
As she spoke the Words of the Lord to each lady, the tears began to flow, and they all realized that what this woman brought to the party had been well worth waiting for. All the other gifts were nice and given from the heart, but the Gift of the Word of Prophecy and Encouragement delivered by this Messenger of God, surpassed them all.
With that, I leave you this Word: Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord! and Those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
Wait! God is at work. He will one day...........turn the tide
