Acts 5:12 And through the hands of the Apostles many Signs and Wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.
The Holy Spirit of God had just struck Ananias and Sapphria dead for the demonic spirit of pride that caused them to premeditate a scheme whereby they would gain a high position in the Church. By this, God had the attention of the people and in the very next Verse we read And through the hands of the Apostles many Signs and Wonders were done among the people. (Acts 5:12)
It’s amazing what God has to do sometimes to get our attention. He had given Ananias and Sapphria time to repent and turn from their wicked ways, but they refused. The Mercy of the Lord is long-suffering and God is patient with His people, however, there comes a time when He says, enough is enough. Now you will pay and pay they did. Because of the Judgment of God, in this case, the people woke up!
Is the church awake today? Sadly, not. The majority of the modern Church is asleep in regard to the Power of the Holy Spirit and the significance of the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary. While most who claim to be believers will say, “Yes, Jesus died for me.” they believe nothing more. Don’t get me wrong, knowing that Jesus died for you is the most important thing anyone can know, but there is so much more to learn and experience.
As we study through the Book of Acts, we find that the believers did not hear the Message of the Gospel of Christ preached, get saved and then just all sit there together planning their next party or event. No, not at all. They set out to be about the Father’s Business as Jesus commissioned them to do. And through the hands of the Apostles many Signs and Wonders were done among the people. (Acts 5:12)
So, why is the Church not operating in this manner today? Why is Church little more than a social club where friends and family come together once or twice a week to visit with each other? How is it that Church today is belonging to three committees and planning the next Church function?
The function of the Church should be as it was in the First Church in the Book of Acts. Again…..And through the hands of the Apostles many Signs and Wonders were done among the people. (Acts 5:12)
I ask you, how many Signs and Wonders have you seen done among the people at your Church? I dare say, not many if any at all.
In my view, this is a travesty. The visitors that come to your church are there because they are hurting. Their spirits are broken due to the evil world they live in. They are broken-hearted, lost, and without hope. Many are on the brink of committing suicide and those sitting next to them on the pew (which could be you) don’t have a clue.
Please remember these Words of Jesus: The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has Anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. (Luke 4:18-19)
What you have just read was the Ministry of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. By the Power of the Holy Spirit He did all these things. Every believer has the Holy Spirit dwelling within them. That same Power is in us to do all that Jesus did, and more! You will see greater things than these. (John 1:50)
Wake up Church! Step into the Ministry Jesus died on the Cross for you to have. Seek the Power of the Holy Spirit and the Anointing of God to use you to perform Signs and Wonders among the people. This is the purpose of the Church. Hallelujah!
Wake up! God is about to…...….turn the tide……….and He wants to use you!
