What Is Faith?

Ephesians 2:8 For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the Gift of God.

For the past week, we have been discussing the faith of Abraham and how it relates to all of us today. The entire Word of God consists of testimonies of faith in God. Without faith, we have nothing of God.

What is faith? The Word of God defines it as follows: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1) The Dictionary defines faith as complete trust or confidence in something or someone. Faith is believing something to the extent of staking your whole life and existence on it.

Everything we have stems from our faith in God for Without faith it is impossible to please Him. (Hebrews 11:6) The fruit of faith is hope. Faith produces hope. Anyone who is hopeless has no faith in God.

Every story in the Bible is a story of faith or the lack thereof. The testimony of every saved born-again believer is based on their faith in Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. The Finished Work of Christ on the Cross is the basis of our faith.

True faith is believing that what Jesus accomplished on the Cross will gain us Victory in all things. Nothing was left undone. No sin or attack of the enemy was not addressed on the Cross by Jesus. This is the ONLY faith God accepts.

To be a child of God is to have this faith and live out this faith every day. For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. (Galatians 3:26) To have a better understanding let us reverse the phrases of this Verse: Through faith in Christ Jesus, you are all sons of God.

We opened this Morning Message with Ephesians 2:8. For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the Gift of God. This Verse says it all! Grace is THE Gift of God. No one can work hard enough to earn it or pay enough money to buy it. Grace is given to those who have faith in the Finished Work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary. God will accept that faith and give you Grace in return. The Grace of God results in Salvation and Everlasting Life in Heaven.

It’s all about faith in Christ. Through it, you are a child of God.

Faith in Christ Crucified will……….turn the tide
