Wise Living

Proverbs 24:1-2 Be not you envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them. For their heart studies destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.

The Book of Proverbs was written by Solomon 1,000 years before the Birth of Christ. This Book contains an untold number of life lessons that will serve the reader well. To read and study Proverbs every day will surely guide one into a life of wisdom and righteousness, closer to God, their Creator.

The 24th Chapter of Proverbs speaks of wise living; how to live a life of wisdom. Verse by verse, the lessons of life found here are pure and true.

The first two verses are a warning to the believer not to be jealous of evil people. While they may prosper by the world’s standards, they are guided by Satan and seek destruction. They plan and talk about doing evil things that will result in trouble. The believer should have no desire to associate with such people, for they are bound for Hell and desire to take as many with them as they can. Their words are a trap. Don’t get caught.

1 Peter 5:8 speaks to this very subject and describes the enemy as a roaring lion. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. This, too is a warning to the believer. The devil is our adversary, the enemy. He hates God and seeks to devour all God’s people.

Those who serve the devil are continuously conjuring up schemes to cheat people for their personal gain. Seeking money, power, and position, they do not care how many people they take down in the process. We see this in every walk of life, and currently in America, this is prevalent in our government. Evil politicians who will say anything to be elected have deceived Americans. Many Christians and other good people in our country want to believe what they say, so they take them at their word. However, many times their words change after the election.

This is the spirit of deceit, and it is rampant in our nation today.  Some refer to these people as panderers. To pander is to say whatever the person or group you are speaking to wants to hear.  We don’t need to sugarcoat this. While some call them panderers, they are, in fact, liars.

In the Bible, Satan has many names. One name is, the father of lies. He is a liar through and through. He lied to Adam and Eve, causing them to enter into sin, and he is still lying to anyone who will listen today. His goal is to steal, kill, and destroy the Kingdom of God.

As citizens of God’s Kingdom, we must be ever watchful and discerning of the evil that is all around us. As Jesus said in Matthew 6:33 Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

The Word of God will……….turn the tide

Ever watchful,      Doreen
