Yield Your Thoughts

2 Corinthians 10:5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

The above Verse of Scripture tells us that we are responsible for our thoughts. We have the ability to cast out any thought that is not pleasing to God. These ungodly thoughts usually are planted in our minds by the devil. He wants us to think ungodly things so we will say and do ungodly things. This is how he attacks us and his ulterior motive is to kill, steal, and destroy. (John 10:10)

Many people (even Christians) seek “professional” help to change their thought patterns. Psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals use various types of therapy in an attempt to clear the patient’s mind, but that is not God’s solution.

Evil, tormenting, and ungodly thoughts are the work of the enemy in our minds. In short, it’s sin. All sin originates in Satan and he implants evil and demonic thoughts in our minds which, if not dealt with by us, will result in sin.

Sin is man’s problem and God sent the remedy for this problem. The Remedy is the Man, Christ Jesus. He went to the Cross for the sins of the world. This includes evil thoughts, words, and actions. In his letter to the Romans, the Apostle Paul wrote, that which is not of faith, is sin. (Romans 14:23) This includes every thought that is not of God and faith in Christ.

Jesus went to the Cross to defeat all power of the enemy in our lives. The Victory He won there gives us the ability to take captive all our thoughts. This is what 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 means! For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Jesus went to the Cross to defeat the enemy and He accomplished it! He did it! (Colossians 2:15) As believers in His Finished Work on the Cross, we have the ability to appropriate His Work in our own lives. We CAN take control of our thoughts. We CAN cast out every evil, impure thought and come into alignment with Christ. We CAN and this is what we are supposed to be doing every day.

The Holy Spirit will help us with this when we submit ourselves and our minds to the Lord. Remember our Scripture from yesterday? Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7) Submit means to give over; surrender; capitulate; relent; yield.

Surrender yourself wholly to God. Take your thoughts captive and bring them into obedience to Christ.

Then the Holy Spirit will……….turn the tide……….in your life.
